Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Epsilon Zeta Chapter of UTD
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I want to join APO?
If you want to make a difference in not only your life but in the lives of others, then Alpha Phi Omega is a great opportunity to do just that. Over the course of your first semester you will grow in your leadership skills, make many new friends (and maybe a boyfriend/girlfriend), and volunteer in projects that help the community and campus.
Wait, I noticed in your last question, boyfriend/girlfriend?? Explain Please.
No problem. Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed service fraternity. Currently, here at the UTD chapter, we are at about a 50% guys to 50% girls ratio. Girls have all the rights and privilages that guys do. Neat huh?
What sort of volunteer projects will be offered this semester?
A wide range. We try to have at least one service project a week. The big two this semester are Trick or Treat for Canned Goods and Math and Science Camp for kids. Trick or Treat is a massive project that we organize trying to get as many other organizations involved as we can to collect cans on halloween. Last year we collected over 2500 cans. Math and Science camp is also fun, APO buses 125 underprivilaged kids to UTD and professors teach fun classes on subjects that will help them in school.
So what kinds of fun stuff does APO do?
We hang out... go see movies... play sports.. watch sports, normal college fun stuff.
Sports?
Yes, we can always use a few good players to help us out in the intermural sports league.
Sum it up for me.
If you have thought,"I want to make a difference, but how?" or even "I am so bored. This is suppose to be college... I need some excitement." Then come check out Alpha Phi Omega and make a difference.
